Description
Vertebrae hair claw clip
Each clip is modelled after a run of vertebrae and printed to order in small batches at my shop in Lafayette, Colorado. The result is a large, sturdy claw with a bit of anatomy to it — subtle enough for the office if you pick cream, considerably less so in black.
Built to hold
Most decorative claws are decorative first. This one is sized and sprung to do the job: about 4 inches from end to end, with deep teeth and a strong stainless-steel spring fitted by hand. It handles thick, curly, and long hair without straining, and it holds a twist all day rather than creeping loose by lunchtime.
Colours
- Black — matte and graphic; the shape reads clearly from across a room.
- Bone white — the most skeletal of the three, and the one people ask about.
- Cream — warmer and softer, closest to a neutral hair accessory.
Details
- Length: approximately 4 inches
- Weight: about 3.5 oz
- Materials: 3D-printed plastic with a stainless-steel spring
- Care: wipe clean with a damp cloth. Keep it out of a hot parked car — printed plastic can soften in sustained high heat.
Made in small batches
I print these myself, a few a day, and the stock figure on this page is the real number sitting on the shelf. When a colour runs out it genuinely is out until the next print run, rather than being backordered against a date I can’t keep.
